Camarillo Ranch California Wedding

These two met at Mervyns! I mean come on, what?! We met Rachael and Kenny by accident. After searching for models for a photoshoot, and Rachael and Kenny came to our rescue! We connected instantly over Disney, which if you follow me on Instagram you know I love. Once the talk of wedding came about, they invited us to capture their happily ever after, 10 years in the making.

Rachael and Kenny shared these kind words after working together at the Camarillo Ranch wedding:

“This video is beautiful! Makes me want to be a guest at my own wedding. Thanks again for everything! You guys are amazing! We’ll definitely be recommending you guys to everyone.”

We are so excited to announce that Pretty Pear Bride published a feature on this wedding! You can read the full article below, as well as watch Racheal and Kenny’s wedding video.

Feature From Pretty Pear Bride From This Camarillo Ranch Wedding

The text below is from this article.

Rachael and Kenny had a ten-year journey together before saying “I do” with a meet cue that started, at the department store Mervyn’s! The historic Calamigos Ranch was a breathtaking backdrop to Racheal and Kenny’s sweet Camarillo Ranch wedding. From the beginning of their planning process the couple wanted each of their personalities to shine through. For the Groom, his love of Superman reflected in his groomsmen as well as the reception table numbers. Each table number was a different superman comic book, as his groomsmen wore different superhero jerseys under their suits. For the Bride her personality reflected in the style of her dress. She wanted her dress to match her veil, as it was an heirloom passed down from generation to generation. You could feel the love these two had throughout the day.

The Proposal

What is your proposal story? It was our 10 year anniversary of dating and we went to San Diego. When we got to the hotel, he sneakily set down a large box with a Happy Anniversary ribbon. I thought it was from the hotel at first but then opened it. There were chocolates with letters spelling out “Say yes to our kismet and our new endeavor Marry me”. I turned and he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!

Wedding Style

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices). I grew up in rural Washington in a small town. He loves small towns and countryside. This made a barn the perfect fit and we loved the gazebo. My colors were cobalt blue, gray and peach. I wanted the blue and gray but it was too wintery so I added peach since it was summer. The barn was so beautiful, it didn’t need much so I found a couple pinterest ideas for diy decor and used those. My husband loves comics so we made the table numbers with old Justice League comics. The lantern idea was also found on pinterest. The wood rounds fit our connection to the forest where we both feel at peace.

Tell us about your attire choices. Once I tried on my dress, I fell in love. It is unique and feminine without being too delicate. The stones added a tiny sparkle but not too much. I’ve never liked bling. My bridesmaid dress took a while (it was harder than mine) but I found them on the online shop lulus. They looked perfect. My husband wanted a black suit and we went with gray for the groomsmen so he’d stand out and the gray felt more appropriatefor summer.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip? Food, music and make sure we looked great!
We splurged on the catering. We knew we didn’t want anything that tasted bad or unprofessional service and they did not disappoint.

What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories) Walking down the aisle and seeing everyone’s reactions. Having all our family and friends attend and meet was so much fun. Our ceremony was hilarious. Our friend wed us and he was perfect. But my husband and I kept messing up! We broke the lock on the box we had for our vows. We had confusion over who to put the ring on at what point. All in all though, we just laughed it off. Especially when we found out our mic was turned up so everyone could hear us trying to figure it out!

Tell us about your wedding flowers. My favorite flowers are bachelor buttons so it was very special that i was able to have them. I loved all the flowers. I was not expecting to have such a reaction but I almost cried seeing how perfect they were.

She was just amazing! All of our treats were special to us. We were able to have rhubarb strawberry pies which are one of my favorites! The cake tasted just as good as it looked. We loved how rustic it came out and that she got flowers from our florist to add.

What did you do for favors? We made little jars of homemade strawberry jam and peanut butter. They all said “We go together like.”

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details. The dangling hearts, string balls and table numbers were all made by us.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions? I wore my mother’s headpiece.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Keep it simple! It’s so easy to get carried away with the personal touches but less is more. It makes each detail really stand out.
