This beautiful MacArthur Place wedding all began with one simple request. When I first began talking to Caitlin and Roan ahead of their wedding, their wedding day objective was clear: “focus on family”. You see, Roan, who is originally from Sweden, was overjoyed that his family was travelling from across the pond to attend his MacArthur Place wedding. It was clear that their wedding day was fit to be a celebration of love. One that would last a lifetime. Not only for them, but for those in attendance as well.
Caitlin and Roan knew that this celebration was a rare and exceptional opportunity for a sacred gathering. It was a lightning-in-a-bottle moment, filled with all the emotion and joy of two souls coming together in love. That meant delivering a wedding video that personified the significance of their day.

An Ethereal MacArthur Place Garden Wedding
Caitlin and Roan chose MacArthur Place to host their wedding in Sonoma, and the venue delivered an ethereal garden wedding followed by a chic celebration. Nestled in the heart of Sonoma, MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa offers a boutique wedding day experience. All in all, backed by the historic charm and laid-back vibes Sonoma is famous for. The idyllic setting at MacArthur Place includes a romantic outdoor setting for reciting wedding vows. However, this versatile wedding venue in Sonoma also provides indoor space for hosting your reception. All in all, the venue feels like a cozy estate. Making it the perfect venue in Sonoma for any couple searching for a cozy and intimate wedding day experience.
Caitlin and Roan’s MacArthur Place wedding included heartfelt vows exchanged under a shaded wooden arbor, flourishing with greenery. A gentle breeze danced just above them as they stood side by side that day. With loving family members and cherished friends looking on, they were officially newlyweds. During those moments, as Caitlin & Roan vowed to love one another for all of time, there were happy tears marked by smiles and moments of shared laughter. The kind that of joy that only a couple so swept up in each other would understand.

Bringing Swedish Wedding Tradition to California
To honor Roan’s culture and the heritage of his family, he and Caitlin included several Swedish traditions in their wedding. By far, one of my favorite moments took place during their ceremony. To incorporate their guests during their vows while leaning on tradition, everyone raised a glass of champagne and cheered for Caitlin and Roan just before their first official kiss as a married couple.
In Sweden, this tradition is typically followed by guests shoutting “Skål”. It harkens back to Scandinavian history. Showcasing the joy, respect, and camaraderie shared by all those in attendance for the couple getting married.
With Caitlin and Roan joined in marriage, I had the opportunity to continue documenting each moment of their ethereal garden wedding at MacArthur Hotel & Spa, and my objective was clear. Focus on family. Focus on the happiness shared by all, the glasses raised across the table, the celebratory dances, and the flood of smiles that filled the room. You can see all the details of Caitlin and Roan’s best day ever, through their wedding video, below.
