When I first talked to Melissa and Courtland about their wedding video in Los Angeles, they had one specific request. They wanted a wedding videographer who would be a ‘fly on the wall’. Someone who could sit back and quietly document every bold, beautiful emotion, paired with every carefully planned detail. All in all, creating a wedding video that is so unmistakably them.

To bring the vibe of their modern and eclectic wedding at Ebell Los Angeles to life, Melissa & Courtland worked with Susan of Susan Dunne Weddings. Coincidentally, Susan is the same planner who worked on the wedding featured here. Susan’s approach is refined and sophisticated. She works with couples to execute their vision through an incredible, experience-driven event. Melissa and Courtland’s wedding was a true reflection of their personalities as two souls who are deeply caring and compassionate. All in all, their wedding was a wonderful celebration filled with impeccable design elements and an incredible amount of intention.

Melissa & Courtland’s Ebell Of Los Angeles Wedding

On the day of their wedding, things didn’t exactly kick off with first looks and getting ready moments. Instead, Melissa and Courtland organized a run with their guests along the coast. Everyone worked up a sweat, which was rewarded with a table full of donuts to snack on.

In fact, as opposed to a first look, Melissa and Courtland decided to meet each other in Melissa’s getting-ready suite. Intent on spending the day by one another’s side, once they were both in their wedding day attire, Courtland arrived to escort his bride. There’s no denying that many couples enjoy the climactic setup of sharing a first look. For Melissa & Courtland, the deeper meaning of their day was best spent in each other’s company every step of the way.

Open Air Wedding Ceremony at The Ebell

Ebell LA hosts weddings in their open-air garden courtyard, featuring a stone stairway, perfect for making a dramatic entrance. At the very center of the garden lies the Fountain of Honor, dating back to 1930. The fountain creates a divide in the space where guest seating lines either side. It also makes way for an aisle, where Melissa made her grand entrance to meet Courtland at the altar. In front of the people they love the most in the world, Melissa and Courtland exchanged vows. Sealing their marriage with a smooch. This fun pronouncement came from their wedding officiant, and you can see the exact moment in their wedding video featured above.

An Ebell Wedding Venue Party of a Lifetime

In keeping with Melissa and Courtland’s authentic and genuine approach to creating a wedding day that fully represented them, their reception was the party of a lifetime. Dinner at their Ebell of Los Angeles wedding kicked off with beautifully curated place settings. Each of which featured a personal touch from the bride and groom. Melissa and Courtland surprised their guests with handwritten notes, carefully tucked under their escort cards. The incredibly detailed notes were a beautiful way to surprise and delight each of their guests, with reactions ranging from laughter to happy tears.

Dinner was only just the beginning. In keeping with the tradition of dancing their butts off (which they also did at their engagement party!), Melissa and Courtland enlisted the help of a live band to get guests on the dance floor, all night long. Or, at least until it was time to serve the espresso martinis and pies.
