If you read my recent post introducing myself, you know my love for Disneyland runs deep. So much so that it impacts my videography work! You can read more about that here. Thankfully, my husband Jason shares that same love. So of course, before getting married last year, we decided to film our save the date video during our favorite disney event – Dapper Day.
The Siren & Co team joined us to capture shots of Jason and I doing one of our favorite thing – running around Disneyland together. We dressed up as Donald and Daisy, and explored Disney until we wrapped with some golden hour shots. It is one of my favorite memories from our time as fiancés!
Afterwards, I gathered the video clips and edited them in-house, as I do for all of our couples. Tap play below to watch the finished video! And read more about why I recommend every engaged couple plan a save the date video.
Plan Your Own Save the Date Video
Before Jason and I tied the knot, we always knew we wanted a save the date video. If you haven’t seen one before, this trend is growing as more couples plan a short video session, often during their engagement photos. That way they have a personalized video to send a virtual save the date to their guests.
We started filming these years ago, as you can see here, and love to see them becoming more popular. This digital save the date option is easier on couples while elbows-deep in wedding planning and more fun for guests to open!
You can showcase so much more of your personality by sending a video instead of a standard card. My Disney save the date video is an example of that! My husband and I loved the excuse to dress up, visit a spot we love, and show our relationship off in a video that is so true to us.
We even took the ease of digital options to another level, by easily integrating the finished video on our wedding website, created on with Joy. There our guests could easily get all of our wedding information in one place, and rewatch our video to their heart’s desire (Okay, maybe most of those replays came from me, ha!)
But the reasons to plan a video go beyond your wedding website:
Get Comfortable With Your Videographer Before The Big Day
My favorite benefit of save the date or engagement videos is they give you and your videographer a chance to meet up before your wedding day. You get a chance to get cozy in front of the camera, learn the process, and shake out any nerves about being filmed!
You get to do this with your photographer, so why wouldn’t you want to do the same with your videographer?! It makes such a difference getting comfortable with your vendors in advance, instead of meeting them for the first time the morning of your wedding. And this kind of video session is the perfect way to make that connection!
